Once a consumer has won his/her case in consumer forum (court), sometimes the OP (opposite party) does not care to respond to the order, and does not pay up the ordered amount to complaint filer. You have won the case and got order for OP to pay up, but it seems the OP is unaware of least bothered to follow order of the court. It then becomes necessary to invoke another provision under Consumer Protection Act/Rules to tackle this kind of situation. You have to file for Execution of the order, whereby OP can become liable to pay penalty orRead More…

Since yesterday, the DTH signal went down and has been down for 24 hours now. Yesterday night I couldn’t contact their paid customer service number, in fact it connected and immediately disconnected me 3 times thereby charging Rs 1 each time, and later when I tried again I was kept on hold for 5 minutes. The initial IVR response itself said that there is problem in Tata Sky service, probably to avoid people asking about it. I instead opened a service request on their website, to have a proof of having logged in the problem at that time. As ofRead More…

My post on How to file a consumer court complaint (in Bangalore) is a hit in terms of number of daily visitors reading that post, and more importantly the number of comments and queries by email it gets, almost every day. Though most of the comments and queries are from Bangalore, quite a few are from other cities with some connection to Bangalore, for example, either the complainant or the company (opposite party) being in Bangalore. My estimate is that 20-30 people have actually filed consumer court complaints in Bangalore based on this post and sample/template/format of consumer forum complaint. Read More…

For last few months, I have been seeing problems whenever I try to login to ICICI online banking. Every time, it gives the error as wrong password 2 times, but after calling up customer care and trying logging in on 3rd try, it works! The customer service people always say that it is to do with server maintenance which may happen anytime during the day. Their solution is to try logging in after some time, presumably by when the server maintenance will be over. They also suggested using Internet Explorer rather than Chrome browser. That led me to go backRead More…

For the last few years I have been renewing the fire insurance policy on my house with Bajaj Allianz. It seems to me that fire insurance is probably a low margin business and gets very low attention from the insurers. Unlike car insurance, where the insurance companies themselves vie with one another to send you email offers, and one can renew it online easily; nothing of the same happens with fire insurance. Please don’t bore us with boring fire insurance policies I have seen the same scenario happening in last few years when I had renewed the fire insurance policy. Read More…

Every problem doesn’t need one to go to consumer court, but I won’t stop anyone if they want to Having received many questions on a popular post on how to file a consumer court complaint (in Bangalore), I have decided to give some alternative and easier steps to take before thinking of filing a consumer court complaint. If I see the maximum number of problems based on comments and emails received, they fall into these categories: 1. Defects found in newly purchased mobile phones. I suggest to follow up with manufacturer directly as part of warranty, unless this is somethingRead More…
